Lovingly restored, this luxury holiday cottage is nestled amongst a cluster of pretty Cornish cottages and sits just a stone’s throw from the beachfront in desirable St Mawes.
Sleeping 6, this dog-friendly abode is the perfect base for families or couples looking to explore The Roseland Peninsula and its overwhelmingly beautiful scenery.
Step inside
Newly renovated with great care and attention, this luxury, 2 story, self-catering holiday cottage is a true home from home, with a generously sized open-plan living area and thoughtful touches added to every room for your uppermost comfort.
The gentle lap of waves against the shore is an omnipresent background sound as you move around the stylish rooms of Penty Lowen, and cushioned window seats make the most of the cottage’s sea views – a heavenly spot to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of Cornish shortbread.
The cosy living room features sturdy, white-washed beams and a wood-panelled ceiling – giving it classic Cornish charm. Furnished with plenty of comfortable seating for all the family and enhanced with a circular rug in ocean-inspired blues, this is a charming space to enjoy a book or a board game with loved ones.
Nautical grey floorboards extend into the open plan kitchen-dining area where a well-equipped, gunmetal grey kitchen offers an inviting space to create some delicious meals with fresh Cornish ingredients. With a large dining table seating 6 and all the mod cons you’d expect from a bespoke, luxury kitchen – the property offers exceptional entertaining space.
For those who may need to reply to an email or two, a handy office with a built-in desk, shelf and storage cupboards is just the place to retreat for some peace and quiet. The owner of this gorgeous holiday cottage really has thought of everything (including the Wi-Fi!)
A contemporary glass balustrade and eye-catching artwork beckon you upstairs, where 2 enchanting king-size master bedrooms and a bright and airy twin bunk room provide ample accommodation for 6. Both master bedrooms have exquisitely restored original wood floors and homely whitewashed walls and beams. Not forgetting the decorative fireplace that stands proudly in Master Bedroom 2, plus Master Bedroom 1’s light-filled en suite bathroom where you can indulge in a relaxing ‘monsoon’ shower after a long coastal hike.
To add warmth, the twin bunk room has a carpeted floor – making it a snug sleeping space and an ideal surface for children to play on. And of course, luxury linen and sumptuous cushions and throws come as standard in all Cornish Keepers properties.
With a luxurious family bathroom and an additional downstairs loo, this homestay has been tremendously well-designed.
Outside
Moving outside to the front of Penty Lowen, a pretty garden gate on the roadside opens onto a couple of steps that lead up to the cottage’s quaint gravel garden.
Bordered by beds and pots planted with palms, herbs and flowers – this seaside sanctuary comes alive with colour over the summer months. Take a seat on the garden’s bench or on one of the chairs, and soak up the sea views with a coffee in hand. You might even like to delight in a spot of alfresco dining as the sun sets over the bay. Soft outdoor cushions are provided, as is a sun umbrella and stand for those treasured balmy days in summertime.
Or when the weather’s not so kind, the enclosed entrance porch with a bistro table and chairs makes a restful spot to sit and read the newspaper while watching the outside world pass by.

About St Mawes
Occupying a prime St Mawes location, Penty Lowen is located in central St Mawes, just a 30-second walk across a quiet village road to the historic fishing harbour and unspoilt beach.
As a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Roseland Peninsula in South Cornwall is revered for its breathtaking coastal scenery. Enjoying a unique microclimate, The Roseland benefits from exceptionally mild temperatures and attracts walkers, beach lovers, and water sports fans alike.
This quiet area of Cornwall measures just ten miles long by three miles at its widest, yet despite its small size, is packed full of idyllic rural villages, quintessentially English countryside, sensational Cornish beaches – and even a historic castle.
St Mawes lies at the southern end of the peninsula and is the largest village in The Roseland.
Benefitting from three gorgeous beaches, this sought-after village draws visitors year after year. Almost entirely surrounded by water, with the Fal Estuary to its West and the Percuil River to its East, The Roseland makes a glorious spot for wild swimming (and indeed many other water-based activities!) in its crystal-clear waters.
Once suitably salty and sandy after a fun-packed beach day, head back to the comfort of Penty Lowen to freshen up before a potter around St Mawes’ attractive town centre where you will find a collection of boutiques, galleries, cafes, pubs and fine dining restaurants. Offering so much to visitors from a leisure and luxury accommodation aspect, there’s no wonder guests come back year after year!
Please note that whilst the holiday cottage does not have private parking, public parking is available nearby at either The Square or The Quay in St Mawes.
